Fabric Choices for Joggers
Most joggers are cut from fleece — a brushed knit with a soft interior. The key variables are weight and composition:
- 280–320 GSM cotton fleece — the standard for everyday joggers; soft, breathable, and easy to print on.
- 350–400 GSM heavyweight fleece — premium streetwear feel with excellent structure.
- Cotton/polyester blends — better shape retention and less shrinkage; the practical choice for athletic ranges.
- Loopback (French terry) — lighter and more breathable than brushed fleece; ideal for spring collections and warmer markets.
Fit and Silhouette
Joggers live or die by their fit. Decide early between a slim tapered leg, a relaxed straight leg, or an oversized streetwear cut — and specify exactly where the taper happens. The rise, thigh width, and ankle opening all need precise measurements in your tech pack, because small changes here dramatically alter the look.
Key Construction Details
- Waistband — wide elastic with an external or internal drawcord; decide on cord material, aglets, and eyelet finishing.
- Ankle cuffs — ribbed cuffs in matching or contrast fabric; specify cuff height and elasticity.
- Pockets — side seam pockets are standard; back welt pockets add a premium touch. Reinforce pocket corners with bar tacks.
- Seams — flatlock seams reduce bulk and chafing in athletic styles; overlock is standard for casual ranges.
Branding and Decoration
Joggers offer excellent branding real estate: thigh prints, embroidered logos, contrast drawcords, and woven labels all work well. Embroidery on fleece needs a stabilising backing to prevent puckering — confirm this with your manufacturer during sampling.
Sizing and Sampling Tips
Always fit-test joggers on real bodies, not just a mannequin — the way the cuff sits on the ankle and the waistband behaves when seated only shows in wear. Order a full size set (not just a medium) before approving bulk, and wash-test at least once to confirm shrinkage stays within tolerance.
